Things to Do
DEERPARK INN
Whether you have a few hours to fill or want to make a weekend of it, there is plenty of local charm to experience just minutes away. For a great bite to eat or a creamy pint, we highly recommend stopping by the Deerpark Inn in town. It’s a cozy gastro-pub run by the very same culinary team as Virginia Park Lodge, serving up incredible food sourced straight from the estate's gardens.
DEERPARK FOREST WALK
A scenic network of walking trails right on the edge of town, perfect for a peaceful morning stroll along the shores of Lough Ramor.
SHERIDAN'S CHEESEMONGERS
A food lover’s haven in a restored railway station, offering premium local cheeses, fine wines, and a Saturday morning market.
FAQ
How do I handle dietary restrictions?
Your dietary needs are incredibly important to us. Ireland is generally fantastic with food allergies and accommodations (especially gluten-free and vegetarian options). Please do specify any dietary requirements if not done so already so we can coordinate with our caterer.
What should I pack for the Irish weather?
The rumours are true—Irish weather is incredibly unpredictable. You might experience sunshine, wind, and rain all in one afternoon. We highly recommend bringing:
A waterproof jacket or umbrella.
Layers (sweaters, light jackets) that you can easily put on or take off.
Comfortable walking shoes for sightseeing and cobble streets.
Leave the flimsy umbrellas at home, as Irish wind will turn them inside out. But we have the feelers out for beautiful sunshine for our wedding celebrations
